| Cerion Core Competency is the consistent production of very low cost, high yield, ultra-pure, size-uniform, and small (6nm), functionalized nano-particles. This competency opens up many attractive product opportunities to the Company including; fuel additives, fuel cells, solar, drug delivery, cosmetics, solid state lighting, to name but a few. That capability is demonstrated below in the figure to the right which is a 500000x Transmission Electron Micrograph of our CeO2 nano-particles. |

Diesel Fuel Borne and Lubrication Additive
The fuel borne additive turns the diesel engine itself into a catalytic converter and extracts as useful power to the wheels, the energy content normally lost in the exhaust gas converter, simultaneously reducing harmful diesel particulate (soot) emissions. The FBA is normally diluted one part per thousand of diesel fuel. A separate nano-particle formulation added to the lube oil, reduces the friction of internal moving parts providing additional fuel economy.
Bio Diesel Fuel Borne Additive
The biodiesel market is anticipated to be much smaller than that of diesel market but important nevertheless. The main challenge with biodiesel is that at the hotter combustion temperatures, formation of oxides of nitrogen becomes a serious limitation. Cerions Product 2offering will be derived from Product 1 but will feature reducing agents such as urea and carbamates in the water-in-oil reverse micelle component of the formulation to reduce NOx to N2 and O2. Other oxidizing, lubricity and engine lifetime characteristics will be maintained or enhanced. The concentration ranges and dilution factors will be the same as in Product 1.
Gasoline/Gasohol Additive
Similar to the Bio Diesel market, the gasohol market is expected to be
at the margin. Product 3 for this market will be derived from Product 1
only specially formulated to address the two main limitations of
gasohol-lower energy content and production of the carcinogenic products
acrolein and acetaldehyde that result from incomplete combustion. The
reverse micelles will now contain a octane improver to address the
poorer mileage accompanying the lower energy content while oxygenate
stabilized CeO_2 nano-particles can promote complete combustion of the
fuel such that the concentration of carcinogenic by products is minimal.
The concentration ranges and dilution factors will be the same as in
Products 1 and 2.
Coal Additive
There are currently 96 coal fired power plants under construction in the US today that are expected to increase the national electrical generating capacity by 25%. Ironically, coal fired plants, in addition to producing tremendous levels of green house gases, produce more radioactivity per plant than nuclear fueled plants. Lead, mercury, uranium, thorium to name but a few toxic elements which are bound preferentially to coal (carbon) are liberated upon combustion and must be "scrubbed" from the effluent gas steam by expensive electrostatic precipitators. Cerion's coal additive features surface lattice site modified crystals with sulfur substituting for oxygen that preferentially bonds to these toxic elements. After the oxygenate stabilizer for CeOxS2-x is burned off in the coal furnace, the particles are free to bind these elements and without surface stabilizer they will aggregrate into larger gravity settling agglomerates (perhaps used in conjunction with inexpensive hydrocyclone like separators). Although product 4 is called a coal additive, its main function is to subtract the aforementioned toxic elements for subsequent settling by gravity or centrifugal force methods.
